Hello, hello, hello. New intro. Wow. Through me for a loop there. I always do the same thing. I'm like, it's kind of become my thing, but like I just thought I'd just go, what's up? Hello. I'm shaking, not stirred. What's going on, guys? Welcome to the latest edition of the Radcast. Here is the Radcast News. Friday, August 19th, 2022. Christina Yasi, welcome. I'm back. You're back.

00:30
Little hiatus. I did. How was it? It was good. I was working on new plays actors from Hulu shows Way out of my depth, but it was great. That's good. Did you learn anything? Oh, yeah, I did lots of very smart people That's good. I made the mistake of googling them. I was like Okay, you actually are you say you are real. Yes. That's cool. Yeah, very cool. Very good. Very good It's our weekly marketing and advertising and business news edition

00:58
We've had a good week. Christina's back from playwriting or whatever. The new play festival. New play festival. Nick, you had a good week? Yeah, it was great. Good weekend? Mm-hmm. Now that we're heading into another one? Yeah, time's flying, man. Praise be. It's Friday. Almost September. I mean, you should be celebrating today. Being a creative, I'm going to give away a little bit. I'm going to go early in the show notes. It's National Photo Day. That's right. I saw that. Happy World Photo Day. You know?

01:26
Take a picture, it'll last longer. Oh, they. Hey, take a screenshot. If you know what that was originally from, what movie, you guys are so young, you'll never get this. Take a picture, it'll last longer. It's not Goonies, is it? Is it something with Jim Carrey? Nope.

01:44
I think it was said a little differently, but Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Okay. They said it, and then they also said it, I think in Back to the Future, or something else had it. Back to the Future, I do know. But Pee Wee's Big Adventure had a riff off of that kind of line. I've never seen it. Pee Wee's Big Adventure, come on, man.

02:06
Have you seen it, Nick? I've never seen that one. Large Marge. Come on. You got to watch some Peewees Big Adventure. That was like the funniest movie ever. And I was a kid. Add it to the list. It's very silly. It's we were talking pre-episode. My wife, Nicole, is not a huge comedy person. And, you know, bringing that movie up, I can think of one movie that she would walk out on in like the first 10 minutes. Peewees Big Adventure would be that one.

02:36
It's been a good week at Radical. We've had a blistering, actually a cooler week as far as temperature goes, but I feel like the week has run together as far as heating up work wise. Lots of stuff going on. We finished a really fun shoot last week, but editing this week for Sheets and Giggles, mattress shoot. What a mattress. Yeah, Christina was involved in that. Her multi-

03:01
talented. We use everyone's talents to the max here. We like lots of hats. Acting, producing, show running, everything. Yes, yes, multi-talented. But it's gonna be fun on their new mattress coming out. And so be on the look for that. We'll share that content. If you follow along any of Radical's channels, which you should be, at Radical Results on Instagram. And so a lot of content, a lot of video. And

03:28
Lots of new possibilities, I'll leave it there. But it's been a good week. I saw this bit of news here right before we came in. Yes, big deal. Anything with large round numbers gets my attention. PEN Entertainment, who purchased 36% of Barstool sports in 2020 for 163 million, just finished buying the remaining shares for 387 million,

03:58
by my bad math gets to around 550, 550-ish, somewhere close to that 540. Do you think they were like saving for it after the initial 163? Like, oh man, if we dream big. They're casino, they're like casino based, they print money. Insane, insane, insane. Ready, it's like me to go gambling in Las Vegas. But Dave Portnoy, who was already hurting for money, is suddenly now a gazillionaire again. So I'm happy for Dave. Good for him. Hey, smart guy. Congratulations, Dave. No matter you like, love or hate.

04:27
the platform or everything he says. He is a brilliant marketer and media maven, I'll call him. And he knows what's popular. Yes he does. From a comedy perspective. At least to the masses. Sometimes it's a race to the bottom, but he gets there in a hurry. You know what I'm talking about, Nick. Good phrase, good phrase. Yes. So like, all right, let's do a little unplanned, un.

04:54
I go off notes, but it's related to Portnoy and Barstool. Like, what's the first thing when I say Barstool sports? What comes to mind? What's like the first thing that comes to mind for me? Instagram. OK, his Instagram. But like maybe specific to the genre of content. Like, what do you like? What's the I think comedy before? I think sports. Yeah. But I'm probably not the target audience for it.

05:24
Nick? Comedy. Comedy. Yeah. Yeah. Just kind of slapstick. Yeah. Mainstream. Goofy like I mean, I send it to people. At the end of the day, they they produce now a lot of original content. Yeah. But if you follow like the main account, there's Riffin, like they find the funniest video. People send them stuff. Yes. That's the thing is when you become the machine that they are, people send them all the best stuff. They do the work. They're like America's funniest home videos.

05:53
irreverent home videos like if the R rated American funniest home videos get sent to them or just the stupidest thing like two, three golfing buddies, whatever they do, getting drunk in a golf cart and they go slam it into something. They send that thing to barstool. You know, it's, it's out there. Yep. But, uh, yeah, they do gambling and everything else now too. But Dave Portnoy, congratulations on the close for 387 million. Uh,

06:21
Cannot success. No, cannot. Yes. I found this interesting. So going from Portnoy to a little bit of- On the heels of this. On the heels. But we like to give perspective here. And I'm gonna give a little perspective because the last three to four months, all you've heard in the news is recession talk. And so it admittedly, there's a lot of data out there that spending has slowed and there's things that align with that.

06:48
But what I did is I did an analysis and then Nick's gonna show this if you watch any of the video, you'll see the search trends of the term recession and how low they were in February and March. But the news started talking about it. And so this is the search trends for people searching for a research recession. And so what I think happens, and this is not a conspiracy theory. I'm not totally, but what I think is the news,

07:18
We can create, if the news talks about it, you can create the perception. And so, yes, there's been a shift in spending. Some of the government money is not in the market anymore. There's stuff, and inflation has caused stuff. But inflation's been around for a couple years. Bread has been more expensive, gas has been more expensive for like the last 18 months. And we weren't in a recession 12 months ago.

07:46
But the news starts talking about it, and it's like it builds sentiment. And I feel like the news can control the sentiment so that people then that might start pulling back and saving, because, oh, we're in a recession, okay, I should spend less, I should do less. I'm not saying people shouldn't be physically responsible, but what I'm saying is the news and the sentiment of the news correlates. Well, you plant the seed. You plant seed. And if you start going, you make people, even though most, like everyone are radical.

08:14
No one's financial situation has drastically changed, you know, in any way. Maybe you raise here and there, but nobody's going backwards. Well, okay. So that's inflationary stuff. So I'm not saying there's, but like not in the last 60 days, like, well, and it's also interesting because a lot of retailers are overbought because it was a mass response to pandemic fear. And so a lot of things are actually on sale and are more inexpensive because there's, you know, it's,

08:43
They're overbought, there's too much stuff. But the news has scared the shit out of everyone. So everyone's not buying. So people aren't spending. Exactly. So like, it's controlling the narrative is what I'm getting at. Is like the power of the news cycle and the power of like what you talk about. And if like, like tomorrow, like if we, and the Radcast is pretty popular, let's not lie. We can push narrative here. We can control sentiment at the Radcast. If you're listening, help me control this. Let's all start posting that we're out of a recession. Like if we just started running,

09:13
running articles that says recession fears subside and whatever. What I think spending would go up. Even though there's no financial change necessarily, if sentiment changes, then the spending changes. And so, self-fulfilling prophecy. So, and look, the reality is the economy kinda needs a little bit of these ups and downs, though you pull back on some of the inflation and things. Like, the government needs.

09:42
People spend a little less than inflation goes down right you know so they get reelected Just saying there's my conspiracy theory for today, so I Don't watch the news and spend your money. I've been told there's a recession. I'm just choosing not to participate Yeah, it's like the Elliott wave theory. I never heard of that the what the Elliott wave theory well. What is that?

10:05
It's a form of technical analysis that looks at recurrent long-term price patterns related to persistent changes in investor sentiment and psychology. There you have it. But if you tell everybody we're in a recession, even if their financial position hasn't really changed, they're going to start acting like they're in a recession.

10:30
Something to think about here today on the Radcast. So if you're out there and you're buying all the talk, let's not buy it, let's just make it like it's 19, what's this, 1970 something, what was the song when it's wonderful?

10:47
back when it whatever it was. There's a year that like was so wonderful. Anyway. 2008. That's what it was. So that was real. Cause you had a huge housing bubble. There was a lot of bad loans in that year. That one, that one wasn't just the news talk. Have you seen the big short, the movie about it? Yes. It's kind of scary. It's unnerving. But that's kind of what I'm saying is like someone's controlling the strings.

11:14
Right? Oh yeah. I don't think anyone denies that someone or something. We'll see. Um, back to some letter news. The rad cast has a really killer lineup. The next three weeks this week we had Cosmo from Cosmos Q

11:32
Some of the, let me just tell you, I've become addicted. Cosmos, I need to bring some back in the office. I'm not trying to hog it all. I didn't realize until I got home how much there was. I need to bring some back to the office to share the love. Please do. Because we'll never use it. But all these seasonings, all these sauces, unbelievable, Cosmos Q. Cosmo was awesome. Super down to earth, so hope you check that out this past Tuesday. I've been posting some of the highlight clips to my social media.

11:56
Really good guy, we've been texting. I see some partnerships coming. I don't know what it is. Like the Radcast Q, Radcast Seasoning. I don't even know what. You know what I'm talking about, Nick? We're gonna get our own seasoning up in this moat. Maybe a little Radcast Cheetos flavor. Signature snacks. Rad snacks. Check out that episode. There it is. And then next week, if you're watching the video, you can see some of the books that are here. My good friend Kyle Creek, The Captain.

12:23
was on, we recorded a couple weeks ago, his episode goes live on Tuesday, he's the author of Fucking History, and his latest book, Speech Therapy, and you know what, if you're listening, I want you to send me a DM, and I'm gonna send and say, you know what, I want one of those fucking books, and I'm gonna send you a copy of Speech Therapy. So send me a DM, we're gonna send some out, and we're gonna do a promo on my social channels and the Radcast, but the Captain was awesome.

12:50
Really great episode. Can't wait for you to hear that next week. Stay tuned. Yes. And for Ryan, enjoy the fucking book. I'm sure you will. I will. Kyle's cool as shit. And I hope you will listen to that episode. He's one of the best follows, sgrstk on Instagram. You need to follow him. Really cool guy. And you need to get one of these books. We're gonna be giving them out.

13:16
So hit me up, so Kyle Creek, the captain, next Tuesday, the 23rd. We recorded this week another zinger, let me just tell you. Howie P, Howard Payne's, one of the most successful entrepreneurs we've ever had on the show, made his fortune in e-cigarettes. He has a castle. He has a castle, which we may or may not be going to. More on that. Think Billions is his latest venture.

13:45
thought leadership group, mastermind, so you can look that up, think billions. He's also doing plant-based Lunchables. Yes, I did see that. Yes, he's like, you'll never go back. I'm like, all right, we'll see. And then of course, the stealth plank, stealth fitness. He's sending me a plank that you put your phone down. Quite an entrepreneur. You do, like you play the game. Like it's cool, like literally, so you're doing a plank. Oh yeah. So you do all this board, and you put your phone at your face level.

14:15
and he has an app and a game, so that balancing is kind of like driving, you know, like turning or whatever, and you gamified being in a plank. Oh my God, I would love that. Genius. Genius, I tell you, genius, I tell you. If I had any sound effects, I would be hitting them. Ding. Alas. There's my audience, there they are. There they are. There they are, there they are. Captive audience. But yes.

14:44
Howard Payne's episode will be out in a few weeks. Also, we've got some big hitters. Let me just tell you, if you drink Pepsi, you're gonna wanna listen. Talking with some big hitters at Pepsi. So any Pepsi drinkers out there, you're gonna be hearing all about Pepsi's marketing in the next few weeks. I'm gonna leave it at that. And we've got some big country music artists that I'm in talks with. So if you're a country music fan, talking journeys, talking the latest hits, on the charts, rising fast.

15:13
That's all I can say right now, but stay on the look for all the latest Radcast guests. Indeed. Speaking of guests, our best guests always are surrounding me and Christina here in the room. And that's our friend at.

15:27
Branded bills and our guests get some branded bills. Yes Send out more I Think we're sending out enough. I already gave away the best social holiday, maybe not the best, but the first one. Sure, today's. Today's being photo day. World photo day, big deal. Big hashtag.

16:55
I'm going to celebrate this with some vodka. Yes. On Saturday. Not Mike's heart. Absolutely not. Read my lips. No. National Lemonade Day. National Lemonade Day. It's my dad's birthday, too. I like I'm a lemonade fan. Same. I grew up loving some lemonade. I used to do a little lemonade stand every summer inside my house. My kids do those now it's turned into.

17:21
water and popsicles. Hey, kids made like a hundred bucks at our house. Oh, we did well back in the day. Yeah, I'm like, holy shit. I'm in the wrong field. We sell some popsicles. We're being food and bev, right? No, I'm talking about Nick. And then the 21st Sunday, National Spumani Day. Very good. I had to bring in my Italian heritage. I had no freaking clue what this was. I had to Google it too. I thought it was something a little funky. And in a way it is, but it's not dirty. It's just, it's ice cream.

17:51
It looks more like a meringue or something. It's gelato, technically. It looks pretty nasty. It looks- You showed that picture. I was like, eh. I'm kind of a texture guy with that kind of stuff. It's pistachio ice cream. I'm like, nah. It's ice cream with toppings in it. That's a note from you, dawg. It's just like Neapolitan. Sunday, National Spumani Day. If you're in Brooklyn, you can get some. Anywhere else, SOL. Yeah, well, on Monday, National Be an Angel Day. Mm, two kind things. You're just an angel, at all times.

18:20
You don't even need a day for it. No, thank you. Thank you. I just radiate light and good things. Yes. I'm going to get Nick some wings like like that we eat. We'll call it Angel Angel. We go eat those things. Good idea. Yeah, we're in. Have you seen the chicken wing ice cream? Have you seen those? No. Oh, it's very weird. We'll put a picture in. National Cuban Sandwich Day is that a day?

18:46
I'm going to forget this. We talk about these social holidays and I forget to plug a couple of them on my phone. Totally. But National Cuban Sandwich Day, I'd like to celebrate.

18:56
Anyone want to send me a Cuban sandwich? Send it on. There you go. If you're locally in Greenville, ideally we aren't shipping those unless, I don't know, you get a good freeze pack. That could be some funky, some funky smell. Yes. Send me a lemonade with a nice Cuban sandwich on Tuesday, Tuesday or Wednesday. With scumoni as dessert. August 23rd, National Cuban Sandwich Day. Don't forget all your favorite social holidays. And if there's one you'd like for us to mention, Let us know. Let us know, maybe we're missing it. Don't even know about it.

19:25
We got some social media news. We do per usual. Tick tock is fast becoming a key search and discovery platform for younger audiences. This was fascinating to me. I agree. Could be a competitor for Google. Google's senior vice president said in our studies something like almost 40% of young people when you're looking for a place for lunch, they don't go to Google. They go to Tick Tock or Instagram. Fascinating. I can't say that I mean, I'm in social media a lot, either from my own things or for work.

19:55
And I guess I search for people, certainly, obviously, profiles, but like- See, TikTok is my go-to. Not maybe not for- So do you do this activity? I've not looked at like restaurants, but I've done recipes. If I'm cooking at home, like such as my air fryer or whatever, I go to TikTok for almost everything if I'm trying to figure out what I'm gonna make.

20:14
You're like looking up Spumar. Exactly. Exactly. Exactly. I gave it away. I was going to surprise the office and bring it in. Damn. But yeah, way more than Google sugar and lemons and water and vodka. Yes. Yes. You know, it's really good. I'm getting really, really off track, but diet lemonade from Chick-fil-A. It's so good.

20:37
I'll get better than regular. I do too. I don't know what it is. I don't know what they put in that stuff. It's that aspartame man. It's the aspartame. Yeah. It's good. No, that's my go-to. Yeah. So anyway, yeah, this is interesting. Very surprising. Not surprising, but surprising. Yeah, curious. They, yeah, I just not, is it, use it as a search engine? Well, when I'm looking for a restaurant, I'll go on Apple Maps.

21:04
OK, but I like the fact that you can see it visually and you don't have to read about it. I think that might be a reason. Right. Like with if you Google recipes in general, you get a fricking blog. It's a whole blog. And with Tiktok, I'm like, oh, it's three minutes and I'm done. And then I know like YouTube has historically all of it, which is owned by Google, but like is a search engine of sorts from similar things. But.

21:28
Obviously, tick tock rising in importance, as we've been telling you. Yeah. So it's only a matter of time before it leaks to the older audience. Like yours truly. And I started searching for things. I guess I have, I mean, I have searched for content specifically, but not just like everyday stuff, like they're saying, like, you know, hard to know. We didn't grow up with it. That's right.

21:53
Very good. There's a little thing for you, Nick. You've been waiting for that dog for three years. I like this. Yeah, because, hey, we do ads for Louie. Apple finds this next big business showing ads on your phone. You know, like I didn't know this was new necessarily. I didn't either.

22:17
But I mean, they've been all the anti-ad. But that's not saying they've been kind of the anti-ad. Now it's brilliant to me. They're killing all the cookies. They're not allowing you to do any targeting because they're gonna sell all the ads. There you go. That's how you do it. $1,000 for a phone, still have ads. Apple's advertising efforts today consist of display ads inside of its news and stock apps, as well as inside the app store, across the iPhone, iPad, and iMac. iPhone will eventually expand search ads to Maps.

22:47
It also will likely add them to digital storefronts like Apple Books and Apple Podcasts. And TV Plus could generate more advertising with multiple tiers, just like what Walt Disney and Netflix and others are starting to do. Training services, yeah. I mean, you know, this stuff's not free. So you get a lot of services and things kind of built in. Whether or not you pay for it when you buy the hardware, you can make that argument, the damn phones have gotten so expensive.

23:16
$1,200. Laptops, it's fine. Yeah, financing mine, but whatever. Yeah. I'm on the payment plan myself because I'm like, Oh, $12 out of pocket or $30 a month. Okay. With an Apple credit card. Absolutely. No interest. All right. I'll take that. Take free money. Um, but you know, it'll be interesting.

23:38
I'll go at it from the podcast same way, because I'm familiar with that search engine because we're in there a lot. We're updating our stuff and looking at others and all that. Seeing ads above it. But you know what? If I could run podcast ads on the podcast page to promote the show, I'm okay with that. I just don't really want to see like head and shoulders in there. Sure, sure. Or like that one thing you do on the side. No, we're a studio of great hair. It's fine. Yeah. It is interesting.

24:09
Well, that's how you make money. Ad placements. They're not going away. Everybody thinks one day we'll not have ads. No. They'll be everywhere. You just won't know you're being advertised to. That's right. Such as PacSun collaborating with virtual influencer, Michaela for back to school ads. Have you seen Michaela? No, I have not. I know who she is. Like, do I know who that is? Yes, I know who it is. Entirely CGI. Yeah, fake, right? Yep. She's totally computer generated. Yes.

24:38
and she's now their back to school mascot. Paxton wants to carve out a bigger stake in the metaverse and is turning to one of the earliest examples of a virtual influencer to do so. Michaela, which went live on Instagram in 2016, has frequently grabbed headlines and stoked controversy for acting as a purely artificial brand ambassador and poster. Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do. You know, I'm all for innovation. And it's just a little weird, like,

25:07
I know there's it's totally disingenuous on some levels when you pay a real person to promote your products. Sure. If they don't actually use like the example we use earlier, I was a brand of bills fan. They're now sponsor of the show. Right. You know, like, okay, there are some some level authenticity and we believe in the brand. If you just create an unreal person, yeah, CGI that's promoting the brand, like, it's just

25:38
completely lacks any authenticity. And it rides the line between like, are you a mascot or are you an ambassador? Or an ad. Right, just shock value. Or both. It doesn't make me wanna buy a product if it's a computer generated woman selling it. And look, with all this deep fake stuff that's coming, all this, I mean, it's like, how do we not pay actors? Well, let's just create ourself our own influencer. Tell me about it, yeah.

26:04
Listen, that's my industry. Yeah. Sex. Miguel is going to be taking all your gigs. She's not as funny as I am. She might be made to be as funny as you. You could steal your program. She doesn't have the trauma. Doesn't have the trauma. You can't fake the trauma. No, you can't. But I'll say this. Go watch some of these specials on this stuff. And it's.

26:31
it will freak you out where they go on with some of this. Some of the AI. The AI. And like, you can't find innovation and there's certainly uses for some of it, but like, I don't know, this world is moving quickly to being, I don't know, not what we intended it to be. Right, right. And it will be very interesting to see the sustainability of it. Yeah. And how long this is gonna last and.

26:57
If we're on the wrong side of it. Yeah, we're going to fight back. The robots. Exactly right. You know, the influencers turn into soldiers, you know. Mm hmm. You know, I don't know. Not a zombie apocalypse, a robot apocalypse. They can shoot up that metaverse. Just don't come to our universe. Exactly. Exactly. Stay over there. The real verse. You can keep Earth 2. Yeah. Tony the Tiger is transforming into a great, great. Very nice. Twitch streamer. Twitch streamer, excuse me.

27:26
The first of its kind partnership sees the Kellogg brand tapping into the growing Vtuber trend on Twitch and follows other efforts that have taken the longstanding mascot to nascent digital platforms like TikTok. Kellogg's Frosted Flakes is updating its iconic Tony the Tiger mascot for a new generation by tapping into several emerging trends and channels. Twitch averages more than 31 million daily visitors.

27:53
and is growing away for brands to engage with younger, digitally native consumers that are difficult to reach through traditional advertising. Yeah, they're not watching TV. They're watching TV, but they're watching Xbox, other gamers. My kids do this, they watch other gamers' game. Like, that's other playing Fortnite or whatever. You know? So, it makes sense. But is Tony the Tiger gonna be a CGI? You know what I mean, back to the previous articles.

28:23
But at least, but Tony the Tiger's been around. Well, right. That's the thing. He's a mascot. Exactly. He's a branded mascot. Yeah. Great. He's very cute too, on the little games. Yes. But I will say, look, if you're marketing to a younger demographic, you need to be on Twitch. You need to find influencers there. It's where the kids are at. We say that about TikTok, but they are.

28:51
They're watching. And there's also so much money in Twitch. I got four of these in my focus group at home called the Offered Boys. So much money. They're watching this stuff. Yeah. And they're not watching terrestrial TV. Right. So, or linear TV. So you need to be there. Get on Twitch. That's where they're at. But have a real influencer, not a digital one like Mckayla. No AI. I love this next one so much. Miller Highlife serves up dive bar inspired ice cream.

29:20
I'm very food-oriented, motivated. You had me at Miller High Life. It's one of my favorite all-time campaign records. The Champagne of Beer. That guy's voice is much more gravely than mine. Does the scenarios that are kind of like semi-funny, comedic, but sort of serious. No, they've got solid ads. Yes. And now they've partnered with ice cream company Tipsy Scoop to produce a beer-infused ice cream bar. Miller High Life with the slogan Champagne of Beers.

29:50
has long positioned itself as a classy yet economical brand. The upscale ice cream pops play into that brand image by putting a decadent elaborate spin on a cheap treat. The ice cream has a higher ABV than actual Miller Highlife. Isn't that insane? Yes. And I don't know, it better taste good. It has to taste good. It looks incredible. Like a beer, beer flavors ice creams getting a little mixing. I love the idea and the PR. I think it'd be like a kind of almost like a rich flavor though.

30:19
All right, I'm done digging, keep going, keep going. I'll order for the office, I'll bring it in. Yes, all right. So you still money, we'll do. The actress in the Miller High Life popsicles. Listen, I could make that work. Yeah, Tipsy Scoop, I do like that, I've never heard of them. Right, I think they're in New York based. The, look, the Champagne of Beers, that's all you need to know here. Oh, that's a great tagline. Yes, it's always been their tagline. I had a little.

30:48
phase in college where I drank nothing but High Life. I had a Bombay Sapphire phase and I had a Miller High Life phase. I had a Bombay Sapphire phase. And you know what's funny is, it is kinda like that classy economical, but like, a lot of people kinda give me a little like funky look. Kinda like I had like an OE or something, you know like a 40. I'm like, this is the champagne of beers. I'm like. You were advertising for them well before. Yes, well before.

31:13
I do like a high life though. It does it has a different flavor. It's uh Good for ice cream It's very rich and buttery Like a high life complex flavor profile Have you had a champagne of beers? Yeah, I have high life. Okay, not bad, right? Yeah, it's good. It's got a different flavor It's good for the lake. Yeah. Yeah, nice ice cold. Mmm. Yeah life. All right, let's go after this

31:42
Hot Pockets leans into gaming community with a creator contest. Back to the gamers. Hot Pockets, did y'all eat Hot Pockets? I love Hot Pockets. Yeah, y'all were a Hot Pockets crew right here. This age, you're the age group for that. I was like, you will after my spouse. And my mom got lean pockets because they were branded as healthier and they were awful. Yeah, yeah. They had broccoli, yeah. Creators can enter the 120 contest by uploading a two minute video to Twitter. I mean, how many different platforms would they upload something to? Jesus, right?

32:12
Videos where using the hashtag 120 contest over the next year, 12 winners will be named one per month and will receive tech and gaming prizes. Hot Pocket has pledged over 100,000 to reward the winners, each of whom will become its brand ambassadors. Smart, smart. Its platform and contest is a clear nod to the evolving interest by brands to appeal to the gaming communities. There's a lot of trends here in the news. It's all around gaming. Games and beer.

32:40
Look, it is what it's all my kids like my kids are play like every sport. They're not overly They're not desensitized and like playing When they're not gaming or playing real games outside or sports or whatever they want to be playing for No, my brother's the same way so It is what they're into the kid, but you know what I think back Nintendo came out like when I was like

33:10
nine or 10, something like that. When the dinosaurs were still around. I played basketball year round, and when I wasn't basketballin' I was Marioin' the shit outta that thing. Yeah. Like, you know? So what goes around comes around. It's not as new as it seems. It's just the...

33:28
I think the social component, the Twitch component, being able to watch others, I would have killed to be able to learn how to do something. I'd have to wait for the magazine to come out with the Super Mario tricks. Like I'd be like, oh God, I knew you had to do that. I would give my brother my device. You had to kill Bauer with four fireballs or something. Oh, you punch him right in the balls and it works. Like, you know. Like. But there's always some magic way to beat the boss. Or the one kid that was good at it. And so I would give it to my brother and be like, you beat this level, I can't get past it. Help me.

33:58
like Glass Joe on Mike Tyson's punch out, who was so easy. And then you get to Hippo, and you had to like punch him in the stomach when he was like throwing a punch. His shorts were dropping down. Telling you. That was when you peaked, wasn't it? No, I actually was one of the first in my group to beat Mike Tyson in Mike. Oh wow. He was unstoppable. But I learned the comment is all about defense against Mike. It wasn't the offense, it was the defense. That's a real waiting to happen. I got something even crazier.

34:28
I'm gonna give you the secret code to get to Mike Tyson. I still remember it right this down 0 0 7 3 7 3 5 9 6 3 that is the code you put in on Mike Tyson's punch out to go straight to Mike Tyson I still remember it Go try dare. 34:58
You do the hokey pokey, you turn yourself around. That's what it's all about. There's some people closer to my age listening to this going, oh yeah, they know what I'm talking about. So Hot Pockets, hey, it's the right way to do it. Yeah. That's where they're at. Games and beer. 120. Speaking of beer. Yes. Pabst Blue Ribbon, or PBR, takes vacations back in time with 80s Motel.

35:23
PBR, which is sold by the brewing company of the same name, has partnered with a historic roadside motel, motel not hotel, to give vacationers an immersive experience in PBR-themed rooms. PBR's themed hotel rooms, which the brand refers to as PAPS to the place, which sounds very weird, aims to transport consumers back to the 80s. The rooms are decked out with decor and appliances from the decade in an effort to give guests an experience that is indifferent to the passing of time.

35:50
How do you feel about the 80s being so long ago? That now it's a trend and a vibe. You know, everybody likes the 80s, you know. Stranger things helped. Yeah, no, but this is fun. I mean, how do you think of motels as kind of being a little creepy? I'm like, mm. You know, like, I don't know if it's because like, psycho back in the day, like the motel. There's a difference between the huh and the mm. Yeah, but there, you know, these one hour places or these full stay-at-night.

36:20
Big yikes. Let's be honest, most of the motels are at least in this area. There's one in Greenville that's hourly. Oh, yes. Oh, how would you know? Because I had friends in college who would film things and it was great because they could use it. Yeah. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge at Bob Jones University. I knew it was a secret call for something. Oh, it is. There's no secret. It's a cult. And they could they could rent it out without having to pay exorbitant amounts.

36:49
They witnessed some things. It makes sense for PBR. Yes. I could see the table cloth look, the plaid or whatever. I don't know. I can totally see PBR. It's appropriate. Especially the people that I know that are heavy PBR drinkers. On brand. But you won't catch me dead in a motel. I'm a champagne and beers guy down at the day's end. There you go. Holiday Inn Express. Yeah.

37:18
There you have beautiful advertising news Crisp little episode. Yeah crisp episode was fun Little blast blast to the past with my Mike Tyson punch out. You're gonna use that code if you played into no telling you You can't blue the eggs remember I am impressed Remember my social security number, but I can remember that that's how often I mean, but that's that's how that's it goes full cycle It's like you want to bust on your kids. 37:47
