01:19
Our lovely studios in Greenville, South Carolina, which is a little reminder. South Carolina, if you couldn't pick up on the Southern accent, world traveler, but they were from California, but California, man, I do think you hanged in. I came in. I came fake a California accent. I don't even know what that is. I know what it sounds like, but I can't get my voice there. But yeah, exactly. So we're hugging the East Coast wherever, whenever, however you are. We appreciate you listening.
01:48

02:44
But Netflix is finally the DVD side of Netflix is like kicking the can. Finally, they plan to give away DVDs as a service. As the service shuts down, they're going to be giving away DVDs. If you need a good coaster in your house, here's your chance. How do you. There's still some old folks, my in-laws being some of them that have DVD players in the house.
03:09
Is it anyone? Anyone saw your DVD player? Cameron? No. OK. I have friends that have the full albums. They invested so heavily in DVDs like, oh, yeah, alphabetized. So I think they're locked in. For a while, they're not going to get that collection. I had the DVD tower like in 2007 stacked up. But I'll tell you what the moment.
03:34
You both with digital music and with digital DVDs. Once like stuff went online, I was the first. I was like, I hated this shit laying around like in my car, the DVD, the CDs, the DVD tower that never had the right DVD in it because somebody was too lazy to put the one right back in it or scratch it. So I threw that shit out. I don't think I took it and sold it. Like you'd sell them for what, four or five dollars a DVD back in the day. I didn't even do that. I pointed that thing right into the dumpster. Soon as I had the option to have digital movies.
04:04
I would kill for my CD collection back. I don't know. I don't remember the day I got rid of it. I don't know if I ever did. But some of those old burn CD mix tapes I'd make. Oh, dude, I was that kid with the the Dave Matthews band. I have a I still have it. It's the only thing I have hard media of still is like a binder with probably 300 Dave Matthews CDs like burned like epic. I mean, I need to pull that out sometime.
04:30
I don't even have a DVD player. I would even play that. Maybe a computer doesn't have a disk drive anymore. Find an old car. Yeah. I don't know. Actually, I think my boat has a DVD player like that. They may not work anymore. Who knows? Anyway, Netflix is giving away the DVDs. You can't even sell them anymore. They're giving them away. I think they're doing all right on the streaming side of things. My bill goes up every month. That's all I know.
04:58
Twenty dollars. Oh, wait, what this nine dollars like two years ago, like it was eight ninety nine or something. Now I'm like, what's twenty three dollars Netflix? What your whatever it is, it's not eight dollars anymore. That's all I know. So they're getting their money one way or another. They can give away free DVDs. They'd be giving away a lot of their shit.
05:18
How Coke is using AI to make ads with artists through its real magic creative academy. Beverage giant convenes digital artists and companies focused on tech and fashion to help create future ads. This comes to us via our good friends at AdAge. Coke using AI to make ads. I mean, everybody's using AI to make everything, right? It's all about AI recipes. And this.
05:46
To me, it sounds like is this basically like an unpaid internship creating ads for them? Yeah, I think so. Yeah. They're like, hey, how do they not pay an ad agency anymore? Open it up to the public and congrats. Exactly. They pay them 40 bucks instead of 4000 or needs to be four million. Yeah. So they get their ads made through its real magic creative academy. I'm all for braiding, but sometimes these things just sound like they're talking to themselves.
06:12
I was going to say the same thing that who came up with real magic, magic, creative. Their tagline now is real magic, which I pan really about two years ago when it first came out, Cokes doesn't doesn't resonate for me. It sounds too Disney ish. Yeah. I like fake magic better myself, but.
06:31
little sleight of hand. I don't want real magic. That means it's kind of scary. I don't want to go wizard. Yeah. Tell me it was fake afterwards. So exactly. Yeah, I don't know. No, I always thought it's convoluted. Anyway, I've already panned that a few times. That's why Coke never calls us to work with us. You know, I do drink their products. I spent a lot of money on their Coke Zero products and their Coke's cherry zero. So if you haven't had that Coke cherry zero, I highly recommend it. It's hard to find.
07:00
because my wife is buying it everywhere they saw it. That's one thing I might be addicted to is Cherry Coke Zero.
07:08
Could be worse. It's pretty good. It's really good with the crown. I think it's really good with a little whiskey. Exactly. That water is pretty good. It's got whiskey in it. Exactly. It's a social media news. Apple podcasts gain new creator tools, including subscription analytics and link fire integration. It's about time.
07:35
Apple has launched several new podcast creator tools, including subscription analytics. This will give podcasters access to a dashboard where they can track their key metrics around subscriptions. Apple is also integrating its podcast analytics into the marketing platform link fire for easy access and to measure engagement with smart links and landing pages. I like this. This is probably where podcasting is the most behind. I've got the analytics from our.
08:02
service provider and who distributes everything. And it's pretty detailed, but. Tracking it back to sales and getting the landing, this is where it needs to be getting to. So anything that supports that, because you've got sponsors, you've got real dollars being spent now and. You got to be able to show at least the traffic you're driving from it, even if it didn't get down to like purchase level, they'll know if they're using like codes and things like that.
08:31
Seems like this should have been available already. Yeah. To be honest with how much business is being done via podcasts. Exactly. It does seem behind with how the podcast thing didn't just happen two years. It's been like a six year burn here. Like the Radcast started our numbers like slowly. I took slow train and then it picked up steam, but.
08:57
They should have some of these tools integrated already. And I'm almost surprised the brands haven't mandated them more the way they've done with TV and digital and all that stuff. If you didn't already listen, you need to go back, hit the back button and go listen to our episode this week with Corey Camp, founder of forever athlete. Great episode. If you've ever played a sport and you know what it's like to wind down from that routine, from the high of playing at the highest level.
09:25
Cory was really great, really down to earth and doing a lot of great things in Texas with forever athlete. He's there on the, isn't it like the only Austin, the tech hub of everything. Now he's in Austin Silicon Valley. It is, but he, Cory was great. So check that out if you didn't already. And next week you want to learn how to get leads. You want to know how to learn how to sell Tanner? Chittister was on founder of
09:54
CEOs forever CEOs was CEOs, elite CEOs. Thank you, Cameron. Tanner was great. He's he does consulting. He started doing consulting for personal trainers, but then he dealt with the whole lead system and a whole process for people to start coaching and doing things online. There's a lot of people doing this, but I really liked Tanner's approach and down to earth guy. We got him to open up. It's both the last 15 minutes. So we got the good juicy stuff. So listen to that on Tuesday.
10:24
We're recording like five or six episodes this week, so we'll be heating up folks. My voice will be heating up as we record two more this afternoon. Got a big recording day, Chris. Big day, baby. Big day. It's always a big day for VK, official sponsor of the Radcast. I got to admit, some people at the office may have tried some of the mushroom gummies and the feedback was a plus. One of those people might be in the podcast studio with me.
10:53
Sawyer our producer. Yes gave good feedback. He had a little half of the mushroom gummy and felt pleasant. Felt nice. Felt a little mood boost. Am I saying that right Sawyer? Little mood boost. Little giggles. If you don't want giggles don't take one. Who doesn't want giggles?
11:18
Yes. Our new move, boosting mushrooms, go to take a vacay.com v a y c a y. The only way to spell vacay take a vacay.com look for the mushroom gummies right there on the homepage. I also got links to our podcast, the vacay podcast where we talk all things, alternative wellness. Made a great episode this week on sleep, getting enough sleep. I actually listened to that back while I was working out this morning, just to give us a little critique. And I was like,
11:45
I feel like I learned something listening to us. If you're not learning from yourself, who can you learn from? You're like, oh, I said that. Wow. That sounds so intelligent. Yeah, exactly. So the big amount of advice. Yes. The vacay podcast, alternative wellness is very different than the Radcast. We're talking all things, how to get ahead of biohacking, alternative supplements, sleep.
12:10
Just stuff to get ahead and using natural products, natural solutions for getting the best out of yourself. So go take a listen to that. And as always, go check out they K for your alternative plant based premium supplements. Got some news here on YouTube. They're working on plans to compensate artists and rights holders for a music.
12:37
YouTube announced a while. It's a mouthful. YouTube announced a plan to tackle the impact of AI technology on the music industry with its new music AI incubator. Three words I enjoy. The program will involve collaboration with Universal Music Group's diverse roster of talent, including songwriters, producers, and composers.
13:02
It's acknowledgement by YouTube that rights holders need to be compensated for work, ingested to train AI models and reused to create new art without permission. So this is interesting. So essentially all the say this is always my argument. I swear, I had the same discussion like two years ago. I don't remember when I can't remember now. I said something's training these AI models, like whether it's knowledge or whether it's like if they read a book.
13:28
And it would be called plagiarism if you or I did it. But now it's just a I is teaching us how to do things, giving us new ways to say the same shit. It's called plagiarism. So now at least they're figuring out ways for like music. If they're if you're going to feed them some original art, original composed work, even if it comes up with something different, it is interesting. And I know everything is learned from something else, but.
13:57
It's a really slippery slope. So it's good that they're. Like from the way I'm reading this with they were saying content ID like systems, I think this is an implementation of like blockchain blockchain to track this. Yeah, technology. Yeah. Finally using it for something besides Bitcoin. Yeah.
14:18
Some real life application people. I know exactly. This is what I was talking about. This is the future of blockchain. I told you. Yeah, it's bigger than Bitcoin. OK, guys, so much bigger. It's true. It's going to empower. It is. Hopefully this means it is with this initiative. YouTube aims to support artists, songwriters, producers and the industry as a whole while driving value for fans. Yeah, I'm sure that latter part is true. Said CEO Neil Mohan in his announcement. I think if it supports the artists, great.
14:48
I don't know that it's driving value for the fans. It's more like, OK, let's. The original artists need to be paid and supported for the work that they create. And this is a good step in the right direction. I still wonder where all this is going to go with, you know, the AI plagiarism. Right. At what point is everything sounding the same? That too. And that's a whole other topic. Like I start reading blog posts now and I'm like, that's a robot.
15:17
Are we going to have famous artists that really had some coder behind the scenes? Yeah. That he's a tech guy, but he's making programming, beautiful music. I'm not so sure that some of these big creators like Alex Ramozzi and others aren't just eventually going to build an AI themselves so that they're not even they're like on an island somewhere. And it's taught it to look, act, feel like you.
15:40
That's scary, but that seems like a reality. I think we're headed faster than we think to Westworld. If you've ever watched that TV show on HBO. It's when it first came out, I'm like, this will never happen. We're not going to be able to create robots. And then suddenly, Elon's talking Neuralink and you're like, all right, brain implant chips. We're doomed. We're headed in that direction. 100 percent.
16:02
Let's that's why even Elon Musk is I think we need to slow down to get some regulation. So if you have Musk is saying that we should be scared. He knows more and more than we do. Or he's saying some shit because it's like, you know, that robot's like suddenly like mimicking him or something. He went to a demo and he's oh, shit. All right, guys, we need to slow down. I better announce on Twitter we need to slow down a I because I just saw some crazy shit. Exactly. Exactly right. So.
16:30
I'm glad YouTube seems to be doing the right thing, but we might have bigger fish to fry once it's all said and done. TikTok downloads brands buy ads that appear in the apps search results. I like this and let me tell you, this is what's called pay per click. All right. Here's your marketing lesson or refresher. The holy grail of marketing is knowing when a buyer has intent to buy something.
17:00
That's why pay-per-click Google ads are like the most popular or expensive thing, because you are raising your hand saying, I need a lawyer today. I wrecked my car. So they're ready to buy. They're ready to buy a logger. So when they go search in the search results, that's a high intent, a high value potential customer that's not just, Oh, I'm doing my research. I'm going to buy it. It's a hot lead. Yeah. It's a hot lead. I'm not, I'm not just.
17:28
Search, I'm in month one of 12 searching for a car. Just, oh, does this get good gas mileage? That's not a high intent today purchase, but so when you can get ads in the search bar, so you for tick tock. So I go and I searched and I'm like natural recipes. And one of the Hellman's can show up because mayonnaise is so natural. And
17:52
That's a great example. But they're going to write ads there. They're natural olive oil based Hellmann's. We'll be right there at the top. But you've got a high intent searcher because they're ready for that recipe and your product is there to serve that need. So this is great. And
18:10
I'm all for it because this is going to make the platform better to buy from and more impactful. Early testing of the new product has seen positive results, including a 441% increase in conversion rate and a 7.4% lift. That's what I'm talking about, people. That's high intent buyers because they're searching for what they might be buying and you show them an ad while they're at the bottom of the funnel. That's where you get them. It's called that mouse. They're right at the cheese. They're ready to bite that cheese.
18:38
And instead of in the good example, bags, not really trying to kill them. We're trying to feed them more cheese with nicotine. We want to try to come back. Yes, but this is great. More is a digital agency. I'm here for anything that drives better results for digital ads and ROI for the brands that we work with. Threads has launched its highly anticipated web app.
19:06
Hyperbole at its best. Who's been waiting at home going, I can't wait till that web app comes out for Threads. I can't wait to get on my MacBook and go to threads.com. Said no one ever. Waiting for this launch. Yeah, there's a meme for this. Cameron, that's a meme for me. It's me going or pretending whatever that would insinuate no one. I think there's a template for that. Said no one ever. Instagram Threads is launching its highly anticipated web app today, allowing users to post and interact with posts from a desktop.
19:36
Post search capabilities are still missing on the app and website, which means tracking news and trends cannot be done yet on threads. How about you get that first? They're holding out on it. Yeah. Just to keep dropping new announcement. Yeah, exactly. Search capabilities. Yes. When you can search, just make sure you search for the Radcast and Ryan Alford because I'm over there on threads. I'm giving them love. I post at least two or three times a week, something cynical.
20:05
Actually, it's a good pretty good. Threads are supposed to be the positive platform as opposed to Twitter. And you are just threading lightly up in your cynical threading lightly. They had lately. But yeah, I don't know who's waiting on this. I think people might be waiting for the search feature to track news and trends. But I don't know what about if you were really sitting there really wanting to write tweets on their laptop. Other than journalists, maybe I'm but.
20:31
I guess if you're in a cubicle trying to hide from your boss that you're on yourself. Maybe you have this thing like when people walk by instead of showing the like database, you know, the button you push like to bring your work up when you're shopping. Yeah. You can just bring up threads, the thread app. Yeah, because that'll mean you're really working. Yeah. We have some social media holidays. Just one shared. We don't quite understand why it's shared, but it's shared, including these show notes and these show notes are like gold and the truth.
21:00
and the Bible so we know they're true. The National Dog Day is August 26th and not to be outdone is National Women's Equality Day. I don't find this funny. I only find it funny because that should not happen. But I guess you don't have to be sharing the day. That's what women's equality day needs to be on like a Monday, a Saturday. So that's all I got to say about that. But one way or another.
21:28
We need more equality and we need to love our dogs. So we can both get behind both of these. That's the bottom line of the day. Yeah. I'm not going to let my kids know it's national dog day though. God, they beat me up over them. We don't have a dog and I refuse to get a dog. Yeah. I tell them it's dog day. They're just going to try to make me feel bad and I won't. I'll act like, Oh man, I'm so sorry. Not really.
21:57
We have so much shit going on. Take him to the shelter. Yeah. Like I will be keeping that dog. I'll it will be my dog because they're at school. Nicole has no flexibility as a principal. That dog's gonna be chasing me around. I'm gonna have to walk it everywhere, take it out. Let's be shit everywhere. It's gonna be your studio dog. Yeah. That would be great right here. That's essentially what would happen. Exactly. Then cameras having to take care of it.
22:24
It's like my dog, then she has to take it home. We'll let it do it. Let her keep the dog Cameron you want a dog? She's down We're gonna slowly start turning Cameron's mic on cuz she's got a good podcast voice We're gonna that would be a teaser for you guys up. Yeah, they're begging here There you go. There's Cameron's We'll get more to check next week On to the next of the show notes. I'm gonna turn the page here
22:53
C. Mondavi and family launches Aviana Wine Collection with AR labels. The Aviana collection features three wines, as my show notes blow off, designed to celebrate strength, adventure, and integrity. Shoppers, age 21 plus, got to make that clear, can scan the QR code on each bottle's label to load and the augmented reality experience in which the character on the front of the bottle comes to life and speaks.
23:23
Cool. I'm down for it. That wine better taste good though. You know, I don't care what your AR really was, but I like the use. It can be fun, especially if you're at the store. Especially it could give you like a little bit more in-depth description of the wine or like a pairing or something like a little educational on this specific wine, you know, like a little mini commercial. Exactly. Because you put your phone up and you'd be like, oh, yeah.
23:49
left my phone. So you bring it up and you're watching this on the episode. So you can put it on those labels. You're looking through your phone, the bottle, and that comes to life. What would be really cool is that they use your phone data to personalize it. Hey, Chris, like the woman or whoever it is, like if they could figure that out, think with AI, they could call me if you want to make this experience a little better. Monday. Yeah. But personalize it. Go. Hey, Chris.
24:13
Looking at your search feed and all the history of your life, we see that you like red wine or whatever. Whatever you'd be willing to give them. You'd give them your name. You give them your name so that she talks to you, assuming it's a she. Whatever the character is on the front, I guess it could be like some mythical creature. Like wine bottles get pretty. Talking grape. Yeah. This is a cool way. If you're a brand and you've got an in-store experience.
24:41
This is where AR can be interesting. I still think we're in the early phases of this type stuff coming alive. We certainly all check our phones like reviews and different things. But how can you improve the in-store experience, the product experience through technology? It seems like a good way to do it. I think they're I think they're ahead of the game. Yeah, like it feels like we went down this road a little bit, like seven or eight years ago, and it was.
25:09
average at best the experiences or it took too long or you had to download an app. Yeah. But if they can make it seamless, just like bringing it like two clicks or something. That's what it always is. It's the friction to get to some of these experiences because like you're walking down the aisle, you see the bottle. I got to download an app. I got to give my blood. OK, I'm out. Like I'm not doing this. If you can just hold your phone up, say anything with QR code, it's just two clicks. OK, I'll do that. Yeah. But.
25:37
Anyway, we'll see Mondavi, one of the largest winemakers in the world, can afford to integrate some of these things. A lot of the winemakers don't have the money necessarily to do this. Bondavi does. So we'll see how it goes. And hopefully that wine tastes good. The Aviana Wine Collection. Cold Ones, a new non-alcoholic beer tells drinkers to enjoy responsibly, irresponsibly.
26:02
It's even funner. I like this much better than it says that. I thought it said, I read it too fast in the show notes. Enjoy responsible. Enjoy irresponsibly. I get it. Very good. Clever. Wonderment. Good agency. No wonder that's where you get big ideas. People work for the brand aims to embrace all the fun of drinking with none of the alcohol stigma around non-alcoholic beer and abstaining from alcohol in general is that it's less fun.
26:28
But now a new non-alcoholic beer is suggesting the opposite by cleverly inverting one of alcohol's beer signature phrase, one of the signature phrase it's clever and being one that doesn't drink alcohol, you still have fun. I still have a great time. I, the whole non-alcoholic beer thing, just like, I don't see myself ever, man, I really want to just go have a beer. Yeah. If I like, don't get me wrong, there's times it's hot out or something and you're like,
26:56
You can't wait to pound a no-duels. I'd rather pound a fucking ice cold Coca-Cola. Yeah, exactly. I'd be the same way. I do drink beer and I like it. But if I didn't or didn't drink alcohol, I'd be wanting like, I don't know, like a slush puppy or something. Yeah, I know. I have buddies that definitely do have some non-alcoholic beers. I just but even.
27:17
Health wise, I'm like, is it worth what's the carb count in it? Yeah, or sugars. It's a my my tail. It's so funny. I know that health trend. Oh, that just used to be the other drinks on the menu. Oh, cherry lemonade is now a mocktail.
27:33
I'm like, OK, yeah, sure. Like, no, but we put like some grenadine in it. So it's a Shirley Temple. Yeah. If you just splash the spritzer in it, that's just right. Oh, my tells I was growing up at the church with the all the drinks. You put a little bit of each one in. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Had an inappropriate name that I won't call it, but that was a mocktail.
27:56
I love the enjoy your response. I think that's crazy. Enjoy your responsibly means you can drink the hell out of those things and It not really matter Just bloated It might be more filling That will be less filling Yeah, there we go. I like it. It's fun cold ones. I even like the name There you have it. Yeah, it's a great name
28:22
Closing out today, we really wanted to hit, like I said, you could get the serious news, the way too serious news anywhere. We wanna make sure we hit the really important stuff, celebrity drama. The new category here brought to you. Been waiting, keep me up to date on this, baby. I've been waiting all day. Yes. Jennifer Anderson, Anniston, Anderson. I don't know where I got the R.
28:49
Jennifer Aniston is so over cancel culture. Is there no redemption? She said to the New York Post ran this article about it. I saw some something on this. I read it a few days ago where she's just over it. No one gets allowed to be forgiven. You ever get canceled? That's what I was thinking. Like, I don't know. I think it's all our friends or something. Yeah. She's always done a good job at staying like pretty.
29:18
Everyone's good graces. Yeah, I saw this in the article about why she's never she blamed her parents relationships for why she's never really gotten married Or they're stayed married or whatever because of how rocky I guess her parents which made sense and I'll but I hadn't seen this until we had the article then I was like I Couldn't think of when she's been canceled, but it's interesting that the Hollywood elites now talking about cancel culture needs no shit Okay
29:46
Thank you. We've been saying the same thing. Exactly. Nobody's allowed to have an opinion anymore. Like it's especially in Hollywood. No, they're all very restricted. It feels like their jobs are held over their heads. From my understanding and from some buddies I know in the entertainment. It's either that or they're all pressured to get behind causes that might. Not be the norm. Yeah, it's weird how that works. Yeah, like whatever it might be.
30:17
So we're that all those Hollywood people have the same belief systems. Yeah, exactly. It's almost like they're in a cult or something. Yeah, like weird. Tom Cruise's. What's that thing called? Scientology and cyanology. They got a huge campus. They're probably going to come attack us to us. I've been to their facilities in Clearwater. It's pretty impressive. They own a whole town, basically. They've got some money. Yeah.
