What's up guys? Welcome to the latest edition of the Radcast. Here is the Radcast News. Friday, July 29th, 2022. Christina Yasi, what's up? Not much, can't believe it's almost August. Almost August. I like that's a good name of a song, almost August. Or a band. Yeah, almost August. There you go. Yes, it is. Copyright trademark. Almost August and definitely hot. Yes, toasty.

00:28
Hosty here in South Cackalack. Follow me. Yeah, but yeah, so much kind of flying by here. Can't slow down saying I don't even go back to school. Like my life doesn't really change in the fall. I know I'm like I like I like the summer. Kids aren't in school or not. Everything's a timeline. I was kind of timeline driven anyway. So it's like I like a little story late back summer, you know, totally, you know, not not big views. Hot girl summer.

00:55
Laid back summer and they offered family. There you go. You know, you know what I'm talking about. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Is it single girl summer or hot girl summer? Hot girl summer. Yeah. And then sad girl autumn. Yeah. Yeah. That's when I thrive. That's my brand. Yes. Yes. Yes. It's a it's kind of like sort of slow, but not slow. Yeah. Things are happening. But it's progress is happening. Yeah. But it's like.

01:23
I don't know, something happens when it gets fall in the winter and it's like, I don't know, everybody gets... Back on the grind. Yeah, on the grind. I like working hard, but playing hard. There you go. It's called balance. Yes. As we talked about before the show. Yes. I hope everyone's doing well wherever, whenever, however you might be listening or watching. It's been a good week. Yeah. We're rocking and rolling. Doing big things here at Radical.

01:52
And I saw a big fucking mattress get delivered. Yes, finally. About time. I'm shooting a commercial here for a company. You might have heard of them. A mattress company. Sheets and giggles. Good friends of ours and a good partner. We're shooting. Great product. They got a new mattress line coming out. They're sustainable, which is good. And.

02:14
So in the mattress, mattresses kind of go to, you know, clog up landfills. Yeah. So, uh, and, you know, I might get a new mattress out of all of it. So, you know, there you go. The, uh, work smart, not hard. Yeah. And we got, uh, all kinds of stuff going on. It's been, uh, lots of shoots. Had my kids in a in our shoes with shoes. Yeah. Start them young. Yes. We were all over the place. Even Nick, Nick was out there directing, shooting.

02:43
telling my kids what to do, smacking them around. I can't believe you smacked my kid, Nick. Kidding, kidding, I might have. All jokes. They were actually pretty well behaved. Maybe they have a future. Future modeling career. Yeah, maybe, who knows.

03:00
There's a lot of money in the foot modeling and zero diversity, blonde hair, blue eyed kids. It's like men. They are what they are. But if you need some blonde hair, blue eyed kids, give me a call. Minor a fraction. Like warm out, man. I've got four. You know, we could settle for some times having fewer. Joking. They're all good kids. Actually, lots of birthdays at the Alford family house.

03:28
Hudson turned 11 two weeks ago. And Clayton this week turned 13. I have a teenager now. Oh my gosh. I am old. Sobering. Yeah. So, and we're having a party later today and I still haven't bought him anything. He's the hardest kid to buy in the store. I'm like, I'm gonna go out at lunch and grab him something. I'm like, what do you buy a 13 year old boy? Any suggestions? Does he like clothes? Not really.

03:58
He does, but doesn't. Like he's not, he hadn't gotten to where he cares about that yet. Money's always good. I want him to like, I'm wearing my Air Jordan ones today. I'd love for, you know, like my pocketbook would or my wallet would, or my pocketbook. I do love pocketbooks. Satchels. Doesn't want them to like nice shoes, but I kind of want them to. Cause I'm like, Hey, get some cool shoes. I care most. Hogan loves them. Hudson's kind of like, Hudson got some Yeezys. Oh.

04:27
You're just running in the Alfred house Took a second mortgage out Easy I'm kidding the never borrowed money for shoes the But Clayton's like eh, does he like tech yeah, I did II things and you know his mom got him some AirPods, okay

04:53
That was gonna be my suggestion. So I was like that was in the back of my head. She's like, I got this mirror. I'm all right. Damn it. Get him an Apple watch. Do you look at mine? I didn't think about getting him a nice watch. Yeah, there you go. I don't know. That's a nice like 13 year old gift though. But like that's kind of thing that's like, oh. You know, like I mean, am I gonna get, I mean, I'd want to get him like a Breitling or something. Yeah.

05:15
Three grand. Yeah. I don't know. I'm not going to get them. Cassio $2.00. Cassio. I think they're too expensive for buying my kids stuff. You know, it's like and not everything. I am a, you know, cheap T-shirt jeans guy, you know, usually. But what shoes, watches and, I don't know, wine. Oh, same. Yes. Expensive taste. But I don't know. So.

05:42
You could send me in your recommendations, but it would be too late because I have to have already gone. When in doubt, cash. Yes. So, you know, the news this week has been about potential recession. And we're here to talk about positive news. But I did want to mention something that was interesting. Coca-Cola, one of the biggest brands in the world, has increased marketing, marketing spend the last quarter to.

06:06
create brand value even amid they've been raising prices because they've had to like everybody else. And there's been this presuming recession and they had one of the best quarters we've ever had, 12% up. And I say this to remind people that people are gonna wanna kind of pull back, but it's actually sometimes when you do the opposite, you have the opposite effect. And I'm not saying be irresponsible and I know Coca-Cola is one of the biggest brands in the world. But it caught my attention because of how

06:35
bold and confident they were to spend and overspend on branding and marketing, even amidst all these fears and price hikes and all their stock's up, everything's up for the quarter. It's incredible. So just keep it in mind, yes, you can't use Coca-Cola as a proxy for everything, but I would just keep it in mind that when others zig, you zag, and when everyone pulls back, that means advertising probably gonna be a little less expensive, marketing's gonna be less expensive.

07:05
and you can stand out more because everyone else is running less. And so keep it in mind. Great tip. We've got some Radcast news. We do. We had a little re-release this week. I looked at the downloads on that. We are outpacing the original release like four to one. Look at that. Yes. Great episode. Bruce Buffer. Yeah. We did hit a record 7,500 downloads yesterday in one day on the Radcast. That's exciting.

07:33
Thank you all. Yes. Thank you, everyone listening, wherever you are. South Korea seems to be really picking up. I don't know how, but we love you. South Korea. Yes. We were maintaining our top 100 Apple position in the US, which is which is great.

07:52
but it's just interesting looking at some of the countries where things pop up. And so we love you wherever you are. Love that algorithm. But yes, Bruce Buffer, his episode was really relevant, super bright guy, obviously uber successful and.

08:08
I've been looking for his it's time energy drinks. I'm drinking my Alani new who doesn't seem to want to call us back. No, I'm just going to keep promoting you for free. The it's time brand of energy drinks is out along with the other stuff. So but Bruce was super insightful and really releasing a lot of his highlight clips. I'm like watching the back one. OK, this is pretty good. I get reminded, you know, we've done almost 300 episodes now. Right. You know, they're all my babies. But like I get go watch him.

08:38
You're like, oh, that's my favorite one. That was great. That's the one that gets the Breitling watch. Yes and for all of you days of our lives Star Wars Lovers Christopher Shawn joined us a few weeks ago. His episode will be releasing next week Christopher was awesome cool guy and Super super like down to earth. Yeah, and hardcore

09:03
So look, just get over it. We did have about a five to seven minute bit talking about days for our lives and soap poppers. It was really like the reality of how it's produced. I just find it fascinating, like, you know, like how much of a different animal soap poppers are. Right. With that kind of serial mindset. Yes. How fast it moves, at least in the production. The storylines do not move fast, but everything else does. Right. Yes. And then yesterday we recorded Ashley Parker Angel.

09:33
And if you O-Town fans out there. There you go. It was a long episode too. Yes. We talked for a long time. We did. And one of his business managers and co-founders came on the show with him. Bobby, and I'm going to miss his name, but you'll see him in the show notes. But Bobby. Klebanoff. There you go. Very good. I need to have five found on the right. Yes. But we could have talked for like two hours. It just like went on and on and on. Ashley was great.

10:03
talked about his O-Town days, talked about leveraging all of that attention into new platforms, talked about failures that they had tried, which I did like, I heard about cereal, opening up a cereal restaurant, like literally, I was like, I love me some cereal. Right, same. You know? Then they looked at like rents for like LA and New York, they're like, ah.

10:23
Yeah, this won't work. And yeah, that's unreal. It's a lot of cereal. Or like not a lot of very expensive cereal. You need more of like a pop up for that. Right. Right. Yeah. Pop up store. There you go. And I would like, you know, like when you go in those buffets and it's got this you drop down like you push the bowl up against it. Yeah. You see the big ring of like a continental breakfast. Don't worry about COVID or anything, but just already germs. Right. Right. Now, you know.

10:50
Ashley Parker, Angel. Coming soon. And we got several big guests lined up. I'm actually reaching out, if anyone working on Kirk Herbstreet. Oh! From ESPN. Yeah. I'm working the angles there. Kirk, if you're listening, checking us out, seeing if you belong, you belong. You too can be on the Radcast. Yeah, we had you. I'm gonna hit up my boy. I got quite a few ESPN connections, so we'll see what happens.

11:19
The, speaking of connections, my good friends at Branded Bills got my new white hat on. Yeah, there you go. Rockin' this, rock this to the lake. Felt more appropriate, the white, you know, absorbing all the sun. Right, right, a little cooler. Yes, Branded Bills, brandedbills.com, the official merchandise sponsor of the Radcast. Got, this is a performance hat. Yes. Didn't even know what it was getting into. Moisture wicking. Yes. Sweat band. Lightweight. Great for summer.

11:49
Certainly lightweight. Yeah. Use Radcast 20 on the website for 20% off your purchase. Go to our website, theradcast.com, click on sponsors, click on the button that says branded bills, discount code, that will plug it in automatically for you, get 20% off the entire site. And they do custom work, people, just like this Radcast hat. You can get custom logos, anything you want, on their hoodies, t-shirts, hats, beanies.

12:19
You name it, they got it. Some of the best merchandise in the country. Great quality. High quality. Give them a shout out, tell them we sent you. Go to brandedbills.com. Got a few social holidays today. Happy talking on elevator day. Yes. That's today. It's an elevator, it's a long container. Too bad we don't have an elevator. I do in my apartment. I go talk at it. You know? Yeah. Talk to myself in it, but it's fine. Yeah. Do you talk to yourself in the elevator? Sometimes. In your mind or out loud? I've done it out loud before. I never answer it though, so it's fine.

12:50
A lot of times he's like, I don't want to do this when I'm going to the gym, but it's fine. Yeah. And then tomorrow I hope this fucking elevator doesn't break. Also that. Yeah. And mine's broken several times, but it's fine. Never with me in it. Tomorrow International Day of Friendship. What a good day. Say hello to my little friend. Celebrate those friends. Say hello to my little friend.

13:13
Um, little godfather. Absolutely. Uh, International Day of Friendship. Oh, you know, hug a friend day. We'll call it hug. There you go. You can hug them or whatever. Text someone on Instagram. There you go. And the 31st is one of my favorite days, National Mutt Day. I love a little, little, little mutt. Good mutt. Not a pure bread. You can't talk. It's a mud. Rescues. Old mutt. And it's also National Avocado Day. I like avocados.

13:40
I don't know. Only time I've gotten food poisoning is from an avocado. Read my lips. No. Exactly. Yes. Like avocados, Nick. Yeah, I love them. Oh, see? You don't like an avocado.

13:52
When you get sick on them, that'll do it. Remember that Pinero sandwich we'd have with avocado on it, like belted, it went away. Can't beat that. Pinero, you need to get that back. Toasted, you know? We're giving all the free promos out there. I know, I know. I'm like, stop mentioning the names. It's just a taste, once you get, you know? Your little sample of the sugar, you know? You're gonna come back for more. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

14:16
Yes. And then respect your parents day. OK. Bringing in the money. My kids listen to this podcast. They need to really pay attention to this one. Respect your parents day. August 1st. August 1st. There you have it. There's our. So celebrate accordingly. July's light on the social holidays. Yes, it is. Don't hold us against this. At least that August will be good. Yeah. Tick tock. Here we go. Here we go. This is fascinating. I saw this.

14:44
I'll let you key it up. It's everywhere. Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian tell Instagram to stop trying to be TikTok. They both posted. They have a combined following of 686 million people on Instagram. And they said, they told TikTok, or Instagram to stop trying to be TikTok. They both shared the link and they said that they're over it. Make Instagram Instagram again. Yeah. I saw this. Please. And you know what? So here's the thing.

15:12
I watched a video a couple weeks ago of, I think it was a couple weeks ago, it might have been this week. Things started running together in summertime blues, or summertime fun I should say. The uh...

15:25
one of the programmers or marketing guys, I don't know who he was for Instagram, they talked about why it was moving towards video. I saw that. And he said it's because there's more sharing, more engagement on the video, so they're doing more video. And I'm like, that might be true, but I don't know if it's chicken or the egg. Is it more video because you're pushing more video and people are engaging with it because they're seeing fewer photos? Right. Or is it truly because people want to do more? Well, it's like set yourself apart. You know, I don't want like four of the same apps. Yeah. But that's just me.

15:54
And apparently me and Kylie and Kim also feel that way. Yeah. And so, uh, I kind of missed some basic photos myself. Yeah. I don't see me in the feed. Or just photos of people that I know as opposed to all like my Instagram is all memes. Yeah. Which is fine. But. I'm going to start posting photos again. Photos of photos. Polaroids. Videos of photos.

16:20
Yeah, Hogwarts. Ooh, there we go. How about a photo of a video? Never mind. Photos. No, not that. Honda Civic Tour expands beyond live shows with TikTok videos from Future X. Honda's bringing back its yearly summer concert series with a new format to reach fans through live shows and content on TikTok.

16:48
The car makers Honda Civic Tour features the future X a group that American auto creator Simon Fuller formed this year. There you go. I mean, I do think of, I don't know, this generation of civics being kind of like that. That genre makes sense to me. Same. I can't say I've seen or heard future X yet. No, I gave him a quick Google when I read this article and they're fine. They'll be successful. What kind of music like pop? OK.

17:17
like boy band pop. It's a little a little more techie than that. Not quite techno, but. OK, yeah, like chain smokers. A little bit. OK. Yeah. All right. I like some chain smokers. There you go. Chain smoking. You know, if I'm Honda and I'm pushing civics, I'm going to be on TikTok. Yeah, 100 percent. You know, I might be pushing anything, but.

17:46
But a hundred percent makes sense it looks I Saw some there was like some souped-up Honda Civic that was like 80 grand or something I'm like who's buying an 80,000 dollar Honda Civic. Yeah, I'd rather buy a beamer Hey, just saying I don't know. What do you think Honda Civic's Nick? Think they're good. Yeah. Yeah, my sister had one growing up

18:10
Did she pay $80,000 for hers? Not quite that much. Yeah. 8,000 seems right. Yeah. I'm not saying we're having like in college or something, you know? Yeah. I'd driven a cord in college for about five minutes. You wreck it. I know. I went back. I had a Jeep, I got a Honda and I went back to a Jeep. I got you. Yeah. So I did see this. Some small businesses are seeing organic success on Tik TOK. No kidding.

18:40
We've only been telling you. Yes. This is an interesting concept. So essentially they're doing print on demand, like t-shirts. Nice shirt, thanks, is the account. So basically you can send them your design idea and they print it and make it for you. Yeah. Which is cool. You send like a couple words and they come up with it. Yeah. It's great. It's fun. They got more than 1.5 million views and almost 370,000 likes.

19:07
on their video with the business idea. And they're making a lot of money. Says they're gonna plan to sell at least 50,000 shirts by the end of the year. So a business idea shared on TikTok, business created, and now executing and working straight off the platform. Totally organic, yeah. Organically. Incredible. Right off of TikTok. There you have it.

19:32
What else we got here? Let's see, we're entering the metaverse. Oh boy. Oh, oh no. Queue it up, tee it up. Oh no. I was waiting on you. Oh no, I can't remember where this button is. Press for time, there it is. Trends in the metaverse. Just when you thought we were done with it. Metaverse real estates, sales to grow by $5 billion by 2026. That's an insane number. This expansion will be a billion. With a B.

19:59
First, the metaverse will gradually move towards more mixed reality experience, which we've talked about a lot. And then taking all annotations and decoding tags for different application specific purposes. This is insane. And then the second reason is they're trying to push more cryptocurrencies to cause passive income. Well, basically.

20:20
You know, if you can't buy a house in the real world, buy it in the Metaverse. Right. The Metaverse doesn't have a recession yet. You know your avatar wants to stay in my house. You know? Oh, there it is. Start marketing this thing. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Working remotely from the Metaverse? Yes, but hey, I'm working remote today in the Metaverse. So I'm somewhere. That's where we start getting requests. Hey guys, are you guys cool? Sorry, I'm out of the office, but I'm... I'm in the Metaverse. Okay, that's hybrid work for you.

20:50
Yes, but real estate by five billion dollars. Allegedly. Yeah. Well, I don't know. I it probably will. But like these numbers are staggering and I feel like there's been a little bit of a I told people to kind of, you know, slow the roll and some of this stuff. Yeah. You know, we kind of had fun with the whole trends and the metaverse and. You know, but it does feel like it's reached a bit of a plateau. Yeah, just in the short term here. If you realize and there's not much you can do with it. Yeah. Like.

21:19
People are like putting goggles on yet at home every day. Yeah, you know, at least you are and I might be but But you know, it was a metaverse constantly. This is actually his avatar. Oh, I make sense. I can see that never come out Hey, yeah Chipotle is getting involved though. They have a buy the dip game, which will give away $200,000 in crypto

21:47
Chipotle Mexican Grill is celebrating National Avocado Day, no thank you, by launching a limited time stock market simulation game, Buy the Dip, that will give away 200k and various cryptocurrencies to individual players. Nice. Yeah? Alright. This is fun. Chipotle's just the best. I do like some Chipotle food. Same. Buy the Dip. Just no guac. You know that comes from like the stock market. Oh yeah. Oh, buy the dip. That's what's happening right now. Lots of buying the dip. I like dipping the dip. Like.

22:16
Literally like it's pulled like a case. Oh, it's pretty damn good. It's the best. God, it's so good. I buy both the dips, their dip and the dip. And the crypto, you know, it's kind of like the weight and see mode on all that stuff, you know, that losing a hundred percent overnight and comes back a little on my, all right, just kind of dip right out of that. Yeah, I'm saying that I'm coming right out of it. I did like this.

22:45
This will be our final article today. We got to keep it short. People you're is a summertime. You don't need to be listening to this. You need to be on a beach somewhere and enjoying your time off the soul cycle. This is a great one. Exchanges use Peloton bikes for in-person classes. So good. Brilliant. And it's so good. Good marketing. Cause they can use the bikes in their studios. I think. Right. Exactly. Uh, so workout studios soul cycle is offering to exchanged used Peloton bikes.

23:13
for 47 free in-studio classes as part of its new Souls Reunited program. There you go. Heralding the slogan, fuck riding solo. They used a hashtag. Right, right, right. That would have gone all over. SoulCycle will collect used Peloton bikes free of charge and recycle them. It's part of a larger campaign, fuck it, let's ride.

23:39
To get people back in person, which pushes the return of in-person workouts. This is brilliant. They can use them. I mean, anybody that double entendre is so much going on there. A lot of so much. I'm here for it. And, you know, I have I am intrigued by getting a Peloton, but I won't say treadmill, not the bike. Sure. I'm not a biker. I'll get on there and run and do like climbing and stuff. Right. But fun. Enjoyed it. Good stuff.

24:06
Tight 25 minutes today. I hope everyone's out there having a great rest this summer. Summer's coming to close faster than we like people. Enjoy it, though. Enjoy it. You know where to find us to Radcast.com search for Peloton. You'll find all the highlight clips we've ever talked about Peloton. And especially today. Fuck it. Let's ride. Yeah. Fuck it. Let's ride. And go enjoy your friends tomorrow and have an avocado on Sunday. There you go. Tell the Radcast. We'll see you next time. Christina Yasi, Ryan Alford.
