00:28
and staying cool, it's heating up here in South Tbilisi. It has been sticky this week, hasn't it? Sticky and hot. I got a black car with black everything and it's like, you get in and it's sauna in here. Like, let me roll the windows down and get a fire hydrant out. Yep, there you go, there you go. Crack an egg and you could have that thing cooking in about 10 seconds on my dashboard. I bet, I bet, over easy. Anyway, it's been a good week. How's your week been? It's been good.
00:58
It's been good. My insomnia has been bad, but aside from that. Yeah, but it's great. It's what good concealer's for. No, you'll never know. It's concealing. Right, exactly. Very concealing. Yeah, I don't know. I've rarely had trouble sleeping. I've had it since high school. And it's always worse this time of year. I don't know why, but I've had doctors be like, yep, just have fun with it. So I read a lot. I mean, I stay up too late to them sometimes, but.
01:28
Like, once I'm ready to go to sleep, generally, I can get there. But I could, but I could, but I could, but I, but the few times it has happened, it is a, not a fun thing. Well, and the, my dad would kill me if he knew this, but the nice thing about living in an apartment is like, I've gone down to my fitness center at like, two or three in the morning, and run on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Read my lips. No. Try to wear myself out, and then I'll go back up to bed.
01:52
At 2 a.m.? Yeah, two or three. I mean, I got up at 5 a.m. to do workouts, but I've usually had at least six or seven hours of sleep. No one's there. You know? Just zombie running on the treadmill, like this is fine. Yeah. This is fine. No, not at 2 a.m. This is not normal. Not normal behavior. No, I wouldn't recommend.
02:12
Yeah, so it's been a good week. I did see this. It was a late breaking. It didn't make the article, but I thought it was interesting. Heineken has developed a new bottle opener. Oh. That it's called the Closer. And when you open up the bottle, it somehow, I guess maybe it's Bluetooth or something, it turns off your laptop. So all the apps, your work apps turn off. That's kind of nice. You can actually unplug a little bit.
02:41
Unplug the closer So it's called a closer the appliance resembles a traditional bottle opener with Heineken branding it depicts use cases people feel overloaded with work demands and then quickly unplug as snapping off a Heineken bottle top Simultaneously shutting down the laptop Offline kind of interesting. Yeah, no exactly it does that functionality
03:07
No idea, but you're right. It's gotta be Bluetooth and it just like is a do not disturb setting probably I guess Nick You need one of those the closer? definitely You want to like shut your phone down to like, you know, it's like
03:24
At least goes into like do not totally present. Yeah. Hey, don't mess with the music keep the Bluetooth going cuz my bluetooth There you go. Yeah, leave the music alone Sorry, I thought I was a doja cat person myself, oh no, that's a new school
03:53
You need to old school, you know? Yes, yes, so it's been a good week. I hope everyone checked out the Radcast on Tuesday. Old Tracy. She's so cool. Tracy Doos came on. I thoroughly enjoyed that episode. The Queen of Elixirs. I never get tired of saying that.
04:12
Maybe never want to wear shoes again. Yeah, I love my shoes I'm glad everyone at work guys is keeping their suit well Nick has a flip-flops, but it get pretty stinky around here Shoes no shirt no problem is my good friend Who sings that song Oh Kenny Testing the country music yeah Yes next week JJ owner founder
04:41
of Ace of Spades, PR, personal branding, and a magician. Ex-Mugician. Jay was cool. He owns a PR company down in Miami. And really cool, we talked a lot about personal branding, what it takes, the reality of it, and how it's not about the fake bullshit anymore. It's about thought leadership, being out there, leveraging PR, connection, all that stuff. Jay was great.
05:10
Uh, so check that out on Tuesday. So if you hadn't listened to Tracy's, listen to her, all the reasons you need to be drinking more water, structured water, the quality of your water, your water matters. And next week, JJ will get you pumped up on personal branding and why you need to be doing it. Uh, so be on the lookout for those. I thought Tracy was cool though. Cool. Any other news from the week of the highlight? I think that we've got.
05:39

06:49
For the Father's Day, your dad wants a new hat. Let me tell you, I'd love a new hat. I'm a dad. Same, I'm not a dad, but I would love a new hat. See? We got, you know. But thanks to me, my father is one. Yeah, if you wanna give dad a Radcast hat, you can DM us that too, we'll give it to him. Dadcast hat. They're all the rage right now. So we do have a few social holidays. We do have some fun holidays, don't we? Yeah, no, what's today? Today is Global Running Day, which I celebrated at 3 a.m. Ah, I'm gonna text my wife that she must be tired
07:19
She's been running through my mind all day. Oh, not bad. It's not good. It's not good, but it's not bad. It's a dad joke. I get it. Are you a runner? Do you run? I run. Away from my problems. Yeah. Yes. That was no. That was my hat. I was projecting. But I'm tired of having to run. Yes, I run. But I'm not like a.
07:48
I'm like a two to three mile guy. OK, totally. Like I'm a big dude, like pounding on the knees with like, you know, 10 miles is a little much. I'm not a marathon person. Yeah, but I do like it because it I feel like it burns the most calories, the fastest for me. Being a big guy. Sure. Versus, you know, like any of the other stuff. So I will, you know, do it a couple of times a week. Totally. Totally. You know, either outside or on the treadmill.
08:14
Nicole and I have been running a little bit around downtown after work with the kids. Nice. So, you know. Yeah, Global Running Day is today. Yeah, which tomorrow after you run today. Exactly, this is my favorite. Feed your face with some donuts on National Donut Day. Donut Day. Cannot go wrong. Donuts galore. Do you have a favorite donut? I do. It's called a sour cream donut. That's my favorite. Oh my god. Everyone thinks I'm so weird. Are you serious?
08:43
him into the office. I'm gonna do it. Yes. That's my very favorite. They're so good. It's also National Hug Your Cat Day, which I will be celebrating.
09:02
Man, that's a successful plumbing system. That's how it's supposed to work right there, people. Full flush all the way down with the trickle in the tank. Yeah, yeah. No doubles, no courtesy flushes here. We flushed that cat right down. No. A little hugging cat. How do you hug a cat anyway? They don't even want you to pet him. My cat's very snuggly. He will run to the door when I get home and then wants me to pick him up. Then I just toss him over my shoulder. Oh, that's unusual. Little buddy.
09:30
He is very weird. It's also National Old Maid's Day. You have some foreshadowing there. That's where you're headed. Cat Lady, one day, to Old Maid the next. My dad has been joking about that. You aren't self-aware enough to know when that light switch flips. It'll be one day of the next. Listen, I have enough cat t-shirts to know that it's coming. I cannot have any more cat t-shirts. You are self-aware of the stigma with Cat Ladies, right? Oh yes. And yet you still live and breathe it. I lean into it. It's part of my personal branding.
10:00
Okay. Hallelujah. But then we have- You know the cat lady stigma, right, Nick? Yeah. Well aware of it. Well aware. Do you date girls that are cat ladies? Not usually. I don't know who dodged what bullet with that one though. Yeah, I know, right? Yeah, oh yeah. Sure. But it's like being a single mom. It's like, oh, you don't like my cat? Guess not, guess there's no future here. But everyone loves my cat. Well.
10:29
June 5th, someone sent me a text, I'll forget about this by the time Sunday rolls around. National Bubbly Day. Perfect day for mimosas. Yes, and I mean, bubbly's just champagne, right? Champagne, Prosecco, yeah. Any fizzy. I don't think it's national, you know, bubbly personality day. Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. Sparkling water, I guess. Sometimes I misinterpret these holidays. Sparkling water? Yes. It would work.
10:59
That's what it is. Yeah, lots of food this month or this week. And then June 7th is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day. Nash is gonna be so happy for that. He, it's really National Chocolate Ice Cream Day for him every day. He gets a scoop before bed almost every night. I'm like. Rightfully so. Yeah. Rightfully so. June 7th, I'll make sure that he gets it. And then I can't talk like it, but.
11:21
Hopefully, Nikko had some sound effects after the fact. National Donald Duck Day. Oh yeah. It's like, I can't do it, I can't. I can't, I don't have to go there. We'll fix it in post. Yeah. But two days ago, June 1st, would have been Marilyn Monroe's 96th birthday, which I think is interesting. I love Marilyn Monroe, love her movies. Iconic. Very. Yeah, very attractive too. Yeah.
11:50
beautiful woman and so tragic. I know. Such a tragic, too young, too young and D day. Yeah. So it's 78th anniversary. Yes. So we've had multiple back to back kind of military and or under birth patriotic yeah. So 78th anniversary, man, not crazy. And I know it was way before our time, but still it's like the years are adding up.
12:16
That's still not that long ago, which is what's incredible. 78. So someone, I guess there's probably still maybe a few living at participants. They'd be right around 100, but I'm sure there's a handful. Yeah. Thank you for your service. Yes. Thank you. And hopefully we aren't headed towards World War Three. Maybe in the metaverse. Yeah. Speaking of that. Segue. Segue.
12:44
In the metaverse. You know, almost all marketing news this way. This this day is somewhat related to the metaverse or FTs. It would appear. But this was pretty cool. And since you're such a fashion queen, I'm going to. Oh, my. I'm spearheading this one. Yeah. I mean, anything with Gucci and of course, that and it's Italian. Like me. Yeah. Gucci opens persistent digital space on Roblox. They've gotten they've have several already, but a virtual piazza called Gucci town.
13:12
includes mini game heights, a creative corner for creating art pieces, an exhibition space called Vault Plaza, a shop that sells digital Gucci items, and a power-up place where community members can meet and interact. Users can earn inexperienced currency called GG Gems and purchase virtual items. It's a whole town. Hey, Gucci town!
13:33
It sounds like a song. I don't know. Gucci Town. I think we should start a Radcast rap song called Gucci Town. Oh, I'm too white for that. You're welcome to try. Oh, you know, I don't know. Probably my ukulele in. Yeah, right. But with Gucci Town, the luxury brand is looking to carve out a permanent space in Roblox that will evolve over time, demonstrating its commitment to the concept of a metaverse. So I'm going to do a little education here. Persistent.
14:02
digital space means that it's living, breathing, and changes as you go. And not a pop-up. And not just like every time. So like non-persistent would be, I mean, you know, for anyone that played like Mario Brothers, every time you start Mario Brothers, it starts from the beginning and it's exactly the same. Persistent means it stays online, it's online, and so that it evolves so that theoretically, if there's a bush in a persistent metaverse and someone trims it,
14:30
and you come on five hours later, it's still trimmed. Right. And it's not the same original bush from like starting. Yeah, it's how to stay relevant. Yes. So it's going to be persistent, which is going to be interesting to see how Gucci evolves in a persistent place. I wonder, I'm going to be smacking you with my Louis Vuitton in Gucci town. They're trying to converge the metaverse with the real world and digital experiences.
14:57
Lots of luxury brands have done this with NFTs to generate income and more engagement with consumers. Yeah, I mean, think about these these brands, even though some of the stuff's more expensive, like the luxury brands, it can stay luxury, but maybe be more attainable. So you open up their audience base. Right. Makes sense. As long as it doesn't start to creep into brand affinity and the perception of luxury. Right. If it becomes too...
15:25
Attainable. Yeah. Yeah. And then you do have brands like, you know, American Eagle Gap and Forever 21 have also ventured into Roblox. So it is interesting. You can have all these stuck up avatars in Gucci Town and I'll be hanging out at like, you know, Gap, you know, like, you know, I'll be at Forever 21. H&M t-shirts. Yeah. There you go. Yes. And like, man, look at her. She's going into.
15:51
Gucci town. Her Gucci, Gucci fanny pack. Yeah. She must be so loaded in the metaverse. Oh my gosh. How many coins does she have? Oh my gosh. Gigi terms. Gigi money, Gigi gems. Yes. Gigi gems. Any coin. I mean put her Gigi gems in her Louis Vuitton pairs. Cross branding. Hey, I like it. That's cool. South Korea is investing $177 million.
16:19
directly in Metaverse platforms. Woof. Hello. The government of South Korea has announced it will start investing in Metaverse projects directly. More than $177 million will be invested to kickstart national jobs and companies in the field. That says they're minister of science and information and communication technology. South Korea is one of the first countries to put funds into this field.
16:46
That's an investment part of a new tech focus South Korea has included in its digital new deal.
16:52
Well, so is that the New Deal? Right. What was that? JFK? Not JFK. Or who was the president? Was it the New Deal? Hoover? I don't know. Roosevelt? FDR. That's what it was. I should have known that. Good history there. FDR. Oh, I should have known that. That's an Annie. Can I ask my 12-year-old? He'd know. He's studying history right now. A set of guidelines that the government is following to push citizens to transition to a fully digital society.
17:19
I mean, you know, when you live in a smaller footprint of a country and all you have is North Korea above you, I'd want to get in that digital world as fast as possible. It's like escapism. It really is so fascinating that their government is funding this. Yeah. As long as Kim Jong-un stays out of... It makes my skin crawl. Think about it. I get it, I guess, but $177 million is a lot of money for South Korea. A lot of money for any government, but a lot for South Korea.
17:48
For your government to be, I mean again, I can't get past the fact that it's being taken so seriously, you know? I think people are starting to give up on the real world a little too quickly. I agree. You know? I'm not there yet. And then, there's still hope. We'll see. What else we got? Oh, this might make me give up on the real world though. Hey, I've got some personal opinions on this next one. Tamagotchi Kids. Could the future of parenthood be having virtual children in the metaverse?
18:18
Gautriona Campbell, one of the UK's leading authorities on artificial intelligence, believes that within 50 years, technology will have advanced to such an extent that babies which exist in the metaverse are indistinct from those in the real world. Technology has come a long way since the 90s. Campbell says virtual children will look like you and will be able to play with you and you can cuddle them. They will be able to simulate emotional responses as well as speech, which will range from goo-goo
18:48
to backchat as they grow older. This comes to us from The Guardian, theguardian.com, interesting. I will say this, there's definitely a segment and I'm not gonna say who's the judge, I'm just saying it strikes me that certain people might be focused on maybe some meta children and not.
19:11
real children. Right, right. Because they can barely keep up with themselves. So they should practice in the metaverse. I'll keep my political beliefs to myself on this one. Yeah, like so, it's like in politics, mine's just an opinion of like the lack of parenting that I see going around. I'm like, Jesus, like, you know, maybe they need to practice in the metaverse first. Simulation. Simulation, I mean, yeah. Probably like we do with the military.
19:36
Yeah, yeah practice your parenthood see how bad it is you don't need to have one and we can simulate birth for men So they can know yes There you go Nick's Dicks already signed up for that. He's doing Lamont's glasses What's the dream on this one always that would be me with Nick read my lips
20:05
No, I will say this This is interesting It's a little scary. This sounds like Westworld especially when they start talking about virtual children that are exactly like you Yeah, we're creating babies which exist in the member are indistinct from those in the real world Okay within 50 years. Yeah, well, that's fair within the things I mean Yeah, only time will tell I
20:31
The writing's kind of on the wall a bit for this, as much as it's being thrown into it, but it's still like, I don't know, 50 years. I'd be an old geezer by then. You'd be pretty old yourself there. I'm gonna be a pretty sassy 70 year old. Listen, listen to me. Do all that hot yoga, I'm gonna be fine. Yes.
20:50
My 3am runs. I know, hot yoga. We are next door to us is a good partner, Soul Yoga, who does hot yoga right next to us. And it's warm. It is humid. It will get you going. So if you're in Greenwood, go check out Soul Yoga. It's about calorie burning. Yeah. Plugging our partners here. So moving on, moving out of our trends in the metaverse.
21:22
American Girl is unveiling a podcast network rooted in the brand's characters. The network, known only as AG, will consist of ad free shows, touching on a range of themes and formats and launched with three original shows. American Girl 10 Minute Mysteries will be scripted and adapted from the brand's slate of published content. American Girl Fan Club and the Smart Girls podcast will be nonfiction style and features a slate of guests and behind the scenes content.
21:52
is produced with Jess Weiner and Cloud 10 Media. Cloud 10 Media. Got it. I'm so excited about this. I would have been all over this as a kid. Yeah, this makes a lot of sense to me. Currently 62% of Americans have listened to a podcast and 79% are aware of them. That's just like this one, folks. Here we are. If you're listening, you are on the forefront and you need to tell others to listen. Like and subscribe. But.
22:21
This makes a lot of sense. I mean, it's like, the kids are listening to audio anyway with music and different things. They have this brand affinity built in. American Girls, like the most, I don't know, what's the eighth group like? It's up there with, I know it's up there with Barbie because it's owned by Mattel. What's it like, four to seven, four to eight? Or is it even older? Like eight to 12, a little older than that, yeah. Is it a little older than that? Okay. But I mean, no one plays with toys anymore. So I think it's really smart for them to keep their relevance and starting a podcast.
22:51
So it says that children have also got into podcasts. 48% of kids between 13 and 17 have listened to a podcast in 2020. So it's probably higher than that now. Totally. So what are stats for them? Um, podcast listing was also higher than previous years at 32% for their demo of eight to 12.
23:13
And currently podcast advertising is 8% of all digital audio spend and increased 60%, 68% year over year. I'll say this, speaking of that, we are accepting new sponsors. So if you were to be listening and you wanna tap into our 150,000 downloads a month, it's be a good time to plug that. With our worldwide audience, let's not forget that. It is worldwide. We're top 100 in seven countries. And we did hit back in the top 100 on Apple just this week.
23:41
So one million down. Hey, yes, one million. We did we didn't even talk about that last week That's just like how you know in grade, right? You know like one million downloads, so it's relevant and I think American girls onto something here Yeah, cuz I mean it will take for that audience for that demo to kind of increase it the content has to bring it
24:04
You know, it's not chicken and the egg. Well, why aren't more children listening? Because they haven't had podcasts for that demo. So I think this will bring it along. I agree. I'm kind of paving the way. Maybe we need a Radcast, like, you know, for kids or something. I can spearhead that. I got you. Let's chill in the children's theater over here. We need to start them early, you know? Get them on the Radcast bandwagon. There we go. What's next here? Miller Lite fires up the grill with beer infused.
24:33
Charcoal just in time for summer. Miller Lite beer coal is intended to flavor grilled foods with the taste of Miller Lite with four pound bags available to purchase online at MillerLiteBeerCole.com for 11.99 plus shipping. The It's Griller Time campaign is a play on It's Miller Time, the long used slogan of the beer. Beer coal is the latest taste-based initiative from the brewer following flavor drops that went on sale during March Madness. Similar to the drops, beer coal was released to coincide with
25:02
Memorial Day. It acts as the unofficial marker of summer when beer sales tend to spike.
25:10
I really like this, makes a ton of sense. I love this. But you grill and you kind of cook with beer anyway, great. Yeah. I thought the beer drops, the suckers were a little weird but cool. It makes tons of sense. Right? Do you think it actually works? I have no idea but I want to try it and I have like a Traeger so I don't know. I'm gonna have to figure out, I don't have a charcoal grill but I might have to buy like a.
25:35
None of those temporary ones. There any charcoal grill people listening? Please sponsor us. This is great. This is great brand extension. This is what you do when you have a brand, you're trying to do something to extend your brand, get more borrowed interest from certain holidays, from certain interests, from your tip. You know, look, if you're a beer drinker, you're probably a griller.
25:55
So this is the connecting the dots of the brand versus your target versus the things that they do versus the time of year. This is how you do brand extension marketing. I'm going to give it another clap for Miller Lite. And the Miller Lite and then it's Miller time. It's griller time. I love that. I love a quippy remark. Hallelujah. Agreed. What's next? Pepsi spends cola infused pepperoni pizza and letter latest better with Pepsi.
26:24
This is pretty fun too. And I saw, I do interact and connected and share content back and forth with the CMO of Pepsi. And I saw him talk about this exact thing. It was a Pepsi flavored pepperonis. And they did a Pepsi flavored pepperonis, which looked-
26:47
Kind of interesting. Pepsi last week introduced a pizza topped with soda infused pepperoni for its national pizza party day on May 20th. Pepsi is capitalizing on success from past efforts to associate its soda with favorite foods under the Better with Pepsi banner. The new push draws on data that shows 72% of national pizza chains serve Pepsi, including pizza at Little Caesar's, Papa John's, and Papa Murphy's. So that suggests about nine in 10 people recommend Pepsi along side pizza.
27:17
Okay, so they have the data to back it up. It's fun, it's cool. Yeah, why not? I thought it was- It can't be bad either, right? It's a good PR, I mean no. I mean it's probably like a sweeter- Exactly. It's a sweeter tasting- It's like a syrup, yeah. I bet you it's a sweeter tasting pepperoni. Yeah. It's just limited supply. I was kinda hoping-
27:34
Diet Pepsi so it's not adding any calories Pepsi zero sugar pepperoni there you go. Yeah, that's pretty good I thought you don't need more calories of that pepperoni. Oh, you know pizza I love pizza. I have a pizza. I might have some QT pizza for lunch. That sounds too bad Doesn't it? I don't know I'm excited you pick it up when I'm throwing down. Mm-hmm. Uh-huh. Yes, sir
28:00
What's up next? The 80s are back, at least in ad design. So why the resurgence? Serif fonts and simple graphics could be a response to years of sans serif startup fonts in millennial pink. It could also be part of the broader nostalgia marketing trends that's happening as people cope with the issues of today. Everything is always better in the past, or so it seems. Nope.
28:23
Erafili Gunari, Zoomer and founder of Gen Z social media agency, the Z-Link, loves the 80s editorial look so much she made a TikTok about it. I got so many comments from people say that the design themselves made them want to buy the products and check them out. She credits its popularity in part to the sense of nostalgia that's popular among Gen Z and millennials, even if many weren't alive in the 80s. Yeah, I was alive in the 80s and so I love the 80s. That's why I love Stranger Things, which I just started season four of last night.
28:53
Pretty interesting. I did fall asleep back to not having a trouble sleeping. It was no reflection of the show. It was more, it just started creeping in closer to my, uh, that's Newsy time. Uh, that's, um, a phrase I never heard for. Yes. Old snoozy time. Nick knew what I meant. Copyright trademark. Yes, exactly. Hallelujah. Um, that's what I say when I get the snoozy time. The, uh,
29:15
So Burger King changed their logo back to like their 80s. There's a lot of trends moving in this direction as well. And I agree when I see stuff this in the 80s, I tend to want to buy more. Which is interesting because I know my mom will see things and she's like, oh, God, please know. I'm a little older than you are, but it's interesting where that generational dynamic is telling me tape cassettes are Kelly back. No way. I'm like.
29:37
Geez, that's such a pain. Like, you know, because I can get behind LPs and get behind. I totally got the records thing with cassette tapes. Come on. They say it just sounds so bad. It's good. I'm like, yeah, I know. So many audio books on cassette tape when I was a kid. Yeah, because I was homeschooled.
29:53
Yeah, I don't know about that, but I do like the 80s look and I am starting, I am starting to catch it in a lot of design stuff. And I think that nostalgia and things like stranger things is going to bring that. So if you're thinking about a little brand change up, lean, look back, not forward. Yeah. Hey, hey. Finally, today, TikTok is testing a clear mode for a distraction, distraction, free scrolling experience. So essentially.
30:22
when you open the app and you start scrolling, you've got the comments and the hashtag or the... All the buttons. Caption gone, all the stuff's kinda out of your way and it's just the content. And a lot of people have requested that because sometimes it gets cut off some of the video anyway. You can't take screenshots and... Yep. Trying to say recipes. It makes sense to me, yeah. If you're a marketer, you've gotta rethink then...
